Annie Marie Thompson Jackson was born on January 15, 1958, in Oakland, Texas, the twelfth of fourteen children born to Horace Lee and Maydell Thompson.
At a young age, Annie faced serious health challenges and went to live with her maternal aunt, Ruby Hicks, in Houston, Texas. Ruby lovingly raised Annie as her own. Later in life, Annie returned to Weimar, Texas, where she completed her education and graduated from high school.
Following graduation, Annie began her career as a dialysis technician, dedicating many years of service to the healthcare field in Austin, Texas.
Through her eldest brother, Anthony, Annie met Leroy Jackson Jr., and the two began a loving relationship. On March 7, 2006, Annie and Leroy were united in marriage. Although no children were born to their union, Annie lovingly embraced the role of “other mother” to his beloved children: Angela Jackson Smith, Adrian Jackson Sr., Cynthia Jackson, and Alecia Jackson.
Annie accepted Christ at an early age and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life. She was a devoted member of Pleasant Hill Church and Olivet Baptist Church for many years. She was also a faithful attendee of St. James Missionary Baptist Church, where she worshipped under the leadership of Pastor Austin Jones.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Maydell Thompson; twelve brothers and one sister; and her bonus son, Kenneth Ball. She was also preceded in death by a host of beloved aunts and uncles.
She leaves to cherish her precious and loving memories her devoted husband, Leroy Jackson Jr.; his children, with whom she shared a special bond: Angela (Kenneth) Smith of Houston, Texas; Adrian Jackson Sr. of Austin, Texas; Cynthia Jackson and Alecia Jackson of Weimar, Texas; and bonus daughter, Kay (Mark) Labee of Elgin, Texas.
